Whatever You Want It To Be
Trip inspiration and photos by Aaron Wessling.
Maybe most people think of summer sun and cruising along with the windows rolled down when they think “camper van vacation.” But what about winter? Winter brings quiet campgrounds, and the invitation to curl up inside a cozy space with someone special, the soft secrets of snow setting the scene. A winter camper van vacation offers all the comforts of home wherever you want it to be, plus — like with the ProMaster called ‘Vincent Van Go’ — you get everything you need for a snowshoe adventure.
The Best Routes
If you’re not quite sure where to go or what to do, we are always happy to share ideas with GoCamp renters! If you’re interested in a snowshoeing retreat near Mt. Hood, you can’t do much better than renting a rig like Vinny, with convenient pick-up in Portland, OR. Then all you need to do is grab your groceries, and head for the hills!
Space To Chill
You’ll have plenty of room to roam on the roads in winter. And a camper van has loads of space to bring along whatever toys you’ll want for your adventure, like skis or sleds. Many of the camper vans in the GoCamp fleet include optional add-ons like snowshoes, so even if you don’t have your own, your winter snow adventure need not have limits!
“We spent two nights snowshoeing (an add-on for the van) up on Mt. Hood. We stayed at White River West Sno Park and Frog Lake, and then headed over to Cottonwood Canyon State Park outside of Wasco for the final night of the trip. Already looking forward to our next adventure with ya’ll!” – Aaron
Sure the days may short, but there’s always the nights! And the night life of van life in winter is as magical as the landscape outside. Just add some fairy lights, bring along a good movie and some games to play, enjoy fine dining in great company. Plus, a bonus of camping in winter is all the extra cooler space. Happy hour, anyone?
