You just reserved a GoCamp camper van; nice work! Now you are wondering what sorts of things you could go do in your van. The list is nearly endless, but some of our favorite things to do in a GoCamp camper van include fishing, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, white water kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, beer tasting, whale watching, tide pool exploring, wine tasting, hot tubbing, swimming in mountain lakes, journaling, and skiing.
This is a series of articles focused on things to do while camping in a GoCamp camper van.
Activity #1: Fishing
First you get to decide whether you want to fish at the ocean, along a stream, or by a lake. Your GoCamp van will take you to all three if you’d like!
Try to find a local willing to share advice on the best spots. For fishing advice, we didn’t look any further than Lyf Gildersleeve of Flying Fish Co. Lyf and his wife Natalie took the kids to the coast in the Eurovan Camper called Roy’s Ride. They had success fishing for surf perch, which Lyf reports are easily caught from the beach from California up to Washington. Sometimes they are only 6 feet from the sand where you are standing.
If you aren’t a professional fishmonger with your own gear, worry not! You can rent fishing gear up and down the coast, and innumerable outfitters stand ready to help you land the big one.
Up next? Mountain biking.
