Take Roadhouse on the Road
Roadhouse’s owner and his wife recently quit their jobs in PA and road tripped across the country for five months with their one year old daughter in this home on wheels. He now works for a van conversion company in Portland (Overland Van Project) and says with confidence, “This van has it all!” What kind of van can house it all? Roadhouse is a 1996 Dodge Roadtrek Versatile 190 camper van.
There is a propane stove, furnace, hot water heater, and fridge that runs off of 12v, propane, or electric. The 80 AH battery is charged by driving the vehicle, when plugged into shore power, and when the sun is shining via 100w solar panel. There is a larger A/C unit that runs on shore power as well.
The main bed (72″ x 52″) can fit 2 adults and is fitted with a new 6″ Zinnus Greentea memory foam mattress and a 3″ topper. There is even an in-van toilet and shower (requires some set up.) Roadhouse is a one family owned van with low miles and has maintenance records going back to new. The interior lights have been converted to LED bulbs. A newer CD player features AUX input to play music from your phone.
A recent overhaul includes the replacement of all steering ball joints, tire alignment, spare tire, gray/black water tank valves, air filter, spark plugs, front and rear struts, headlight bulbs, hot water heater igniter, propane tank, oil and oil filter, aux battery, installation of aftermarket battery monitor, rear brakes, radiator, and an upgraded converter/charger.
The interior is clean and plush. The front captain chairs are comfy and feature swivel seat bases. All rear windows are tinted and screened. There is a roof top fan and a low consumption Sirocco fan in the sleeping area to provide a breeze all night long. With some arrangement of the four passenger seats there are 2 additional “crash pads” available inside. The van also comes with a Stainless Steel Berkey water filter with two ‘Super Sterasyl’ ceramic filters. In short, it’s got everything you need for the adventure of a lifetime! Take Roadhouse on the road!

Pick Up and Drop Off
Rentals are Calculated on a 24-hour Basis: The rental period is generally considered to be 24 hours. If you pick up the van at 10 am, you’ll be expected to return it around 10 am. Most van owners can accommodate requests for a few extra hours at $20/hour. Alternatively, if you want to pick up in the morning and drop off in the evening, simply select the optional half day add-on when completing your reservation.
Pick Up and Drop Off Time: There is no set pick up and drop off time. You’ll make arrangements suited to your needs and schedule with the van’s owner. You can indicate your preferred pick up and drop off time when completing your reservation; final arrangements will be confirmed with the van’s owner.
